Narendra Modi congratulates Sheikh Hasina over Bangladesh general polls victory

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IBNS): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and congratulated her for the victory in the general polls held on Sunday.

Modi expressed India's continued commitment to work together for the development of Bangladesh and further strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

" Spoke to Sheikh Hasina Ji and congratulated her on the resounding victory in the Bangladesh elections. Wished her the very best for the tenure ahead," Modi tweeted.

" Reiterated India's continued commitment to work together for the development of Bangladesh and further strengthening of our bilateral relations," the Indian PM said.

Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League registered a landslide victory in the polls.

Sheikh Hasina returned to power in the Muslim majority nation for a record third straight term.
