Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, Jan 10 (IBNS) : A  Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) youth leader and one of the prime accused in the murder of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in the Bulandshahr violence  was arrested by the Uttar Pradeshpolice on Thursday, media reports said.

According to The Times of India (TOI), the youth leader, Shikhar Agarwal,  was reportedly arrested by the Jehangirabad police in Hapur.

Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and civilian Sumit Kumar were killed as a result of the mob violence that erupted  after cattle carcasses were found strewn outside a village.

Shikhar Agarwal had released a video last month, blaming the salin police  officer for the violence. He claimed that it was the police officer who created tension by stopping him and others from taking cow carcasses to the police post for filing a complaint over the alleged slaughter.

Over 35 people arrests have been made so far in the case, including other prime accused Yogesh Raj and Prashant Nutt.

While Nutt was arrested for the murder of inspector Subodh Kumar, Yogesh Raj, the local convenor of Bajrang Dal, was arrested for instigating mob violence.
