India condemns terrorists attack in Nairobi
New Delhi, Jan 17 (IBNS): The Indian government on Thursday condemned the terror attack in Kenya's Nairobi city which left 21 people dead.
"India strongly condemns the horrific terrorist attack in Dusit D2 Hotel and offices complex in Nairobi on 15 January 2019 which caused loss of innocent lives. We stand in solidarity with Kenya at this juncture," India's Ministry of External Affair said in a statement.
"We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and Government of Kenya and wish early recovery to the injured," it said.
The death toll in the suspected terrorist attack incident in a luxury hotel compound in Nairobi city has touched 21, media reports said on Thursday.
Hundreds of people escaped the spot after gunmen attacked the DusitD2 hotel and business complex on Tuesday.
Somalia-based Islamist group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attak.
The 19-hour-long operation came to an end on Wednesday.
President Uhuru Kenyatta said the siege ended with five jihadist attackers "eliminated", reported BBC.
DusitD2 hotel is a five-star hotel. It has 101 rooms.
Kenya has witnessed several terrorist attacks in recent times.
