WB Govt denies permission for Yogi Adityanath's chopper landing in state

New Delhi, Feb 3 (IBNS): The West Bengal government on Sunday denied permission to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to land his chopper in the state.

Adityanath was scheduled to address two rallies in north Bengal-one at Raiganj and Balurghat.

According to media reports, he is now addressing the rallies via teleconferencing.

The UP CM's office stated that the permission was denied without any prior notice.

The Mamata Banerjee government had earlier denied permission to BJP President Amit Shah for his chopper to land in Malda district of West Bengal.

The Malda district administration had stated that due to construction work, it was not possible to land VVIP choppers in that area last week.

Modi attacks Mamata Banerjee in Bengal:

In one of the sharpest attacks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in recent times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called the ruling TMC government as opposed to poor people as it has withdrawn the state from Centre's newly-launched health scheme Ayushman Bharat.

The Prime Minister, while addressing a rally in steel-city Durgapur on Saturday, said Mamata got scared after a person, who got cured due to Ayushman Bharat (healthcare scheme), praised Modi.

Modi, who referred to Mamata as "Didi" multiple times during his slightly less than an hour speech in Durgapur, also took on the Chief Minister over her decision to emulate her Andhra Pradesh counterpart in preventing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from entering the state.

In his trade-mark sarcastic tone, the Prime Minister said: "Didi why are you so afraid of investigating agencies if you are innocent? I never prevented CBI when I was ruling Gujarat because I had nothing to fear."
