Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha adjourned till 2 pm over Mamata's dharna
New Delhi, Feb 4 (IBNS): Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned till 2 pm on Monday amid ruckus after TMC MPs protested against BJP for allegedly using CBI for political gains in West Bengal ahead of the General Elections.
As Trinamool members protest, Lok Sabha witnesses two adjournments, while Rajya Sabha too was adjourned minutes after it assembled on Monday.
This was due to Sunday's development in Kolkata where the CBI tried to interrogate Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar over two Ponzi schemes. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sat on a dharna protesting the move.
The Budget Session of Parliament begins today on the third day of the session. Today Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will discuss on Motion of Thanks on the President's address.,
In the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Police Commissioner was summoned many times but did not appear before the CBI.
While Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the government, claiming it wants to end opposition by using the CB, BJD's Bhartruhari Mahtab said the manner in which the CBI is functioning in the last 3-4 months is not professional.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan informed the House that she had received some adjournment notices and she wouldn't be allowing it.
She said she would, however, allow the members to raise these issues during Zero Hour.
Trinamool Congress member Saugata Roy said the CBI had reached the Kolkata police chief's house without prior permission. He said the West Bengal Chief Minister is on a Satyagraha. He accused the Centre of misusing the CBI.
