Five persons including three Assam Rifles jawans injured in Manipur blast

Guwahati, Feb 7 (IBNS): At least five persons including three Assam Rifles jawans were injured in a bomb blast in Manipur’s capital city Imphal on Thursday evening.

According to the reports, the blast that occurred at Mapal Kangjaibung area near Polo ground in Imphal at around 6-30 pm.

Three Assam Rifles jawan and two other civilians were injured in the blast.

The injured persons were immediately admitted at the nearest hospital.

Top officials of Manipur police and Assam Rifles had rushed to the area and launched operation.

A top police official said that, suspected militants had triggered the explosion.

It is to be mentioned that, massive protests are going on in Manipur and other parts of the North Eastern region against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 and few militant groups of the region also opposed the bill.
