Citizenship Bill : Six women protesters injured in alleged police action in Manipur

Guwahati, Feb 10 (IBNS): At least six women demonstrators were injured while the Manipur police allegedly used tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse the protesters who agitated against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Manipur’s Imphal on Sunday evening.

According to the reports, the women vendors at Khwairamband  Ima Keithel were holding protest since Saturday night.

The protest turned violent on Sunday evening at around 5-30 pm when the women protesters marched towards to street despite security barricade.

To disperse the protest, security personnel used tear gas shells and mock bombs, in which six women protesters were injured.

The injured protesters were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal.

Meanwhile, The People Alliance Manipur (PAM) has called 36-hour total shutdown in Manipur from 5 am of Feb 11.
