Navjot Singh Sidhu says his remarks on Pulwama attack was 'distorted'
Amritsar, Feb 16 (IBNS): Amid criticisms, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday said his remarks on Pulwama attack was 'distorted'.
"I was only saying that we need to find a permanent solution to the problem of terrorism," he told media.
"This should not take place again," he said.
Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, a member of The Kapil Sharma Show, has been directed to leave the show following his remarks on the Pulwama terror attack incident which had triggered a storm on the social media against him.
According to media reports, he will now be replaced by actress Archana Puran Singh.
“His remarks have not been taken kindly by most. Also, the channel and the show was getting dragged into the unwanted controversy. This is when the team amicably decided that Navjot make a distance from the show. The team has already shot a couple of episodes with Archana,” a source told The Indian Express.
Sidhu was earlier quoted as saying by The Indian Express newspaper: "Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”
Netizens started criticising the Punjab leader following his remarks.
