Pakistan should stop misleading world and take credible actions: India says rejecting Imran Khan's comments on Pulwama

"We are not surprised that the Prime Minister of Pakistan refuses to acknowledge the attack on our security forces in Pulwama as an act of terrorism. Prime Minister of Pakistan has neither chosen to condemn this heinous act nor condoled with the bereaved families," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

"It is regrettable that the Pakistani Prime Minister has insinuated that India’s response to the terrorist attack is determined by the forthcoming General Election. India rejects this false allegation. India’s democracy is a model for the world which Pakistan would never understand. We demand Pakistan to stop misleading the international community and take credible and visible action against the perpetrators of Pulwama terrorist attack and other terrorists and terror groups operating from areas under their control," it said.

India rejected Pakistan PM Imran Khan's comments on the Pulwama attack and said his nation is the 'nerve center of terrorism'.

"Pakistan claims to be the greatest victim of terrorism. This is far from truth. The international community is well acquainted with the reality that Pakistan is the nerve center of terrorism," it said.

"The Prime Minister of Pakistan has offered to investigate the matter if India provides proof. This is a lame excuse. In the horrific attack in Mumbai on 26/11, proof was provided to Pakistan. Despite this, the case has not progressed for the last more than 10 years. Likewise, on the terror attack on Pathankot airbase, there has been no progress. Promises of "guaranteed action” ring hollow given the track record of Pakistan," read the statement issued by the Indian Foreign Office.

Little less than a week after 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area, Pakistan PM Imran Khan, whose nation has been blamed by India to be behind the incident, on Tuesday asked the neighbouring nation to share evidence on the issue and assured his country will 'take action'.

"If you have actionable evidence, share it with us. We will take action," Khan was quoted as saying by Dawn News.

"Not because we are under pressure, but because it is our policy," he said.

India was left shocked on Feb 14 after the terror attack killed 14 jawans in Pulwama.

Since then, Indian government, political leaders, common men and even foreign nations have condemned the attack.

Amid bilateral tension over the Pulwama terrorist attack, Pakistan on Monday called back its High Commissioner to India.

Pakistan Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Mohammad Faisal, tweeted, "We have called back our HIgh Commissioner in India for consultations. He left New Delhi this morning ."

Pakistan-based militant organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed, has claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack.

Pakistan called back its High Commissioner days after India summoned its High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria, to New Delhi.

India blames Pakistan:

India on Thursday said it strongly condemned "the cowardly terrorist attack on our brave security forces in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir earlier today" by Pakistan based terrorists claiming the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel.

"This heinous and despicable act has been perpetrated by Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based and supported terrorist organisation proscribed by the United Nations and other countries. This terror group is led by the international terrorist Masood Azhar, who has been given full freedom by Government of Pakistan to operate and expand his terror infrastructure in territories under the control of Pakistan and to carry out attacks in India and elsewhere with impunity," said India's Ministry of External Affairs in a statement.

"The Government of India is firmly and resolutely committed to take all necessary measures to safeguard national security. We are equally resolved to fight against the menace of terrorism. We demand that Pakistan stop supporting terrorists and terror groups operating from their territory and dismantle the infrastructure operated by terrorist outfits to launch attacks in other countries," it said.  

Pakistan denies link:

Denying any link with the deadly terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, Pakistan said the incident is a "matter of grave concern".

Rejecting any of its links to the attack, Pakistan said: "We have always condemned heightened acts of violence in the Valley. We strongly reject any insinuation by elements in the Indian government and media circles that seek to link the attack to the State of Pakistan without investigations."  

India acts tough:

Following the attack, India withdrew the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) Status of Pakistan.

On Saturday, India hiked customs duty on all goods exported from the neighbouring nation to 200 per cent with an immediate effect.
