Dismayed by Imran's eerie silence on Pulwama attack :Parkash Badal
Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) Former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patron Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said he was stunned by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's complete and deafening silence on the tragic terrorist attack in Pulwama and his refusal to utter even a single word against those who had openly taken responsibility for the heinous crime.
Badal wanted to know if Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu had heard Imran Khan and what he thought of his silence over the Pulwama outrage. "Does Mr Sidhu still believe that terrorism has no backing from the government of any hostile country."
In a statement here, Badal said he found it impossible to believe that a person holding such a responsible position should refuse to condemn those who brazenly boast of having committed this crime against humanity.
"In all his speech which came in the wake of Pulwama attack, Imran Khan refused even to touch the very incident which had caused the whole tragic atmosphere between India and Pakistan. Is he not aware that the responsibility for the crime had already been claimed by a group whose chief had been going around freely and openly throughout the country of whose Prime Minsiter Imran Khan is ? He says he wants proof. The proof of this roaming around in Pakistan and had been addressing rallies in Lahore and Karachi spitting venom against India, asking Pakistani citizens to destroy India and kill Indians. Is that not actionable proof for a Prime Minister to act on. Forget about acting on the evidence, he has been scared even to condemn the perpetrators of the crime," the veteran Akali Dal leader said.
Badal said he was shocked that Imran did not have the basic human grace to express grief over the incident and show solidarity with the families of the brave soldiers who died in the terrorist attack.
"In the same breath he claims that his country has lost 70,000 innocent Pakistanis in terrorist attacks. Then what stops him from condemning those who carrying out these gory crimes?" Badal asked.
