Hand over Hafiz Sayeed and Masood Azhar to India: Digvijaya Singh tells Imran Khan

New Delhi, Feb 20 (IBNS): Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday asked Pakistan PM Imran Khan to hand over Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar, whom he described as self-confessed perpetrators of terror, to neighbouring India.

Singh said Imran Khan will be one of the front runner to win Nobel Peace Prfize if he moved ahead and hand over the two people to India.

"Come on Hon Prime Minister of Pakistan show Guts and hand over Hafiz Sayeed and Masood Azhar the Self Confessed perpetrators of Terror, to India. You would not only bail out Pakistan out of Financial Crisis and also be the Front Runner for Nobel Peace Prize," Singh tweeted,

Singh also targeted Navjot Singh Sindhu, Punjab Minister, over his recent remarks on Pulwama attack and said he should convince his 'friend' Imran Khan that it is for him he is facing all the criticisms.

"Navjot Singh Sidhu ji apne dost Imran bhai ko samjhaiye. Uskii vajah se aap ko gaali padh rahi hai (Convince your friend Imran bhai. You are being abused because of him)," the senior Congress leader advised his party colleague.

Sidhu's statement and its impact:

Sidhu, a Punjab minister and also a member of The Kapil Sharma Show on television, had said as quoted by The Indian Express, "Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”

After row over his remarks, the Congress leader was directed to leave the show. The former cricketer has reportedly been replaced by actress Archana Puran Singh.

Sidhu later clarified his statement:

Amid criticisms, Sidhu on Saturday said his remarks on Pulwama attack was 'distorted'.

"I was only saying that we need to find a permanent solution to the problem of terrorism," he told media.

"This should not take place again," he said.

Pulwama attack:

Militants rammed an IED-laden vehicle into a vehicle carrying CRPF at Goripora, Awantipora on Thursday afternoon.

The attack left 14 CRPF jawans injured.

Pakistan-based militant organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Following the attack, a nationwide protest took place. Both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress condemned the attack in a single voice.
