Islamabad: Amid interse global pressure to curb the terrorist organisations on its soil, Pakistan on Thursday banned 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamat-ud-Dawa and its charity arm Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF).

Media reports said a spokesman of the Interior Ministry in Pakistan said that the decision was made at a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan at his office on Thursday.

Among key outcomes of the meeting was an order to accelerate anti-terrorism operations in the country to re-establish the state's writ, and the reinstatement of a ban on the Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) and its charity arm, the Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), reported Dawn.

Pakistan came under internse pressure after a suicide bomber (fidayeen) from terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad rammed an IED-laden vehicle into a vehicle carrying CRPF at Goripora, Awantipora on Feb 14 last, killing at least 40 Indian soldiers.

India squarely blamed Pakistan for the attack accusing it of sheltering the Jaish and other terror groups.
