Drought: A 10 member Central Team to visit Karnataka on Feb 27 and 28 for on the spot inspection of drought hit taluks
Bengaluru, Feb 23 (UNI) A 10 member Central team will be arriving here on Feb 27 and tour drought affected taluks in the State to study the situation previling in the drought affected villages.
The team, headed by Union Agriculture Ministry Joint Secretary, will be divided in to three groups and visit 156 taluks declared as drought hit in the State and on March One they will have a meeting with the concerned officers in Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat.
Meanwhile, Minister for Revenue R V Deshpande, who is currently in Delhi, met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and appealed for release of Rs 949.49 Crore already sanctioned under NDRF.
The Karnataka Government, which has declared 156 taluks as drought hit, has estimated loss of Rs 11,384.47 crore and is eligible for Rs 2,064 Crore compensation as per NDRF Guidelines.
