Two arrested in Kolkata with fake Rs 2000 notes
Kolkata, Feb 28 (IBNS): Police have arrested two men with Rs 7 lakh in fake currency notes from Hare Street in central Kolkata.
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Fake India Currency Notes (FICN) unit of Kolkata Police's Special Task Force (STF) made the arrests on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, Razzak Sk (29) and Vikash Kumar Gautam alias Vikash Kumar Lodi alias Sunil (27), who are the residents of West Bengal's Malda district and Uttar Pradesh's Unnao respectively, were nabbed by the STF officials at around 6:20 pm. when they were carrying fake Rs 2,000 notes with a face value of Rs 7 lakh.
Senior officials of the Kolkata STF said that they had been charged under IPC sections 120B, 489B and 489C.
"The duo will be produced before a Kolkata court today (Thursday)," a STF officer told IBNS.
"We are currently interrogating them to know more about their racket(s) and FICN trafficking route(s)," the official added.
