Guwahati, March 3 (IBNS): Aiming to unite the all Karbi community people in Assam All Assam Karbi Students Association in association with Karbi Arloso Asem, All Assam Karbi Youth Association, Karbi Bangthe Asem on Sunday had organised the 1st Karbi Socio Political Convention held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra in Guwahati.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang, MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi, Executive Members of the Council Rupsing Teron, Horensing Bey, MACs Richard Tokbi, Probhat Chandra Taro, D.U Maslai, Chandra Sing Kro President Karbi Cultural Society, Social workers Borsing Rongphar, Longsing Tokbi, besides All Assam Karbi Students Association President Tapan Engti, Secy Jayanta Kathar, Mongol Sing Engti GS Nowgaon District Karbi Youth Association, Nowgaon Karbi Lammet Amei Akan Pator were present at the convention.
Urging for the Karbi People living in Assam across the 33 districts to unify as one and invite all factions to come under one umbrella and work for peace, brotherhood, stability and Development in the region, Tuliram Ronghang said an united forum was likely to be formed to raise different issues related to the people.
Unification move, various issues on educational, political resolutions, social cultural and economic issues of Plain Karbis discussed during the convention.
The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM said there would be an open discussion and interaction on the topics related to the development of the plan Karbi People to realize their goal of Building a Great Karbi Nation.
"We are expecting around 3000 delegates including resources persons and over 50,000 to 1 lakh participants from different districts in the state wherever there is a Karbi population during the open discussion and interaction which is to be held soon," Tuliram Ronghang said.
Over 4 lakh people of Karbi community living in plain areas in eight districts in the state are fighting to get political rights and other Socio economic issues in past several decades.
