Ahmedabad, Mar 7 (IBNS): The Gujarat politics is buzzing with the reports of Patidar leader Hardik Patel joining Congress ahead of the General Elections, media reports said.

Patel is most likely to contest from Jamnagar seat, The Times of India reported.

"The big announcement will be made public either at the Jan Sankalp rally after the Congress working committee meeting in Ahmedabad on March 12 or at the next public meeting of Congress president Rahul Gandhi," a Congress leader has been quoted by The Times of India.

Patel is the leader of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS).

In the Gujarat assembly elections 2017, Congress had improved its tally to 80 seats but failed to stop the Narendra Modi juggernaut.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the state elections by winning 99 seats.
