New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI): A MiG-21 Bison fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan's Bikaner district on Friday, a Defence ministry Spokesperson said here.
The pilot, however, managed to eject safely.
According to the Spokesperson, the aircraft had taken off from Nal airbase on a routine mission, when the incident occurred.
The reason for the crash is being ascertained, while a court of inquiry has been ordered.
Details are being awaited, the Spokesperson added.
The MiG-21 Bison aircraft grabbed media attention after Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down a Pakistani F-16 warplane with it, in an aerial fight on February 27.
