Two Assam cabinet ministers start cow farm inside their official residence

Guwahati, Mar 8 (IBNS): In past few years, the cow has emerged a major player in Indian politics and the political parties use the cow as a political tool to win favours among Hindu voters. 

Now in Assam also, the cow is being used as a political tool.

Two cabinet ministers of the BJP-led Assam government are now busy with cow farming inside their official residence in Dispur, Guwahati.

Assam Education minister and senior BJP leader Siddhartha Bhattacharya and state forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya have set up cowsheds at their official residence in Guwahati.

Former president of Assam state BJP and present cabinet minister of Sarbananda Sonowal-led Assam government, Siddhartha Bhattacharya had brought four jersey cows and shifted it to his official residence in the minister colony campus.

The Assam Education minister has also engaged four caretakers and employees for management of the cow farm.

Siddhartha Bhattacharya had also set up a cowshed inside his official residence.

Daily, about 65-70 litre of milk is produced and the minister has distributed the milk among the poor students of several schools, temples, religious institutions in Guwahati.

Surjit Sandilya, an employee of the cow farm owned by the Assam Education minister said that, in morning time, about 45 litre of milk is produced daily and it distributed among the students.

“We have already covered more than 20 schools in Guwahati. We are trying to provide milk to a school twice in a week. We distributed the milk produced at night to the temples, religious institutions,” Surjit Sandilya said.

Apart from Siddhartha Bhattacharya, another Assam cabinet minister Parimal Suklabaidya also set up a cow farm inside his official residence in Guwahati.

Parimal Suklabaidya, Assam Forest minister had brought two Denmark-India cross-breeding cows and started a cow farm by building a cowshed inside his official residence.

Sailen Pandey, Public Relation Officer (PRO) to the Assam Forest minister said that, the minister has an attachment to the cows.

“He has set up a public shed for the cows in his own assembly constituency. He has now set up a cowshed inside his official residence,” Sailen Pandey said.

It is to be mentioned that, this is first time in Assam that, two cabinet ministers have started cow farm inside their official residence.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had started cow farm inside his official residence during his tenure.
