Raipur, Mar 9 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday announced weekly-off for the staff working in all police stations and also increased the dearness allowance of state government staff by 4 per cent.

Talking to the reporters here, Mr Baghel said that the announcement has been made following the promises that the Congress government had declared in its manifesto earlier.

"Police staff who are on duty to maintain law and order situation in the state will get weekly off now. The decision of the government will benefit around 35 thousand police officers and staff", the Chief Minister said.

Fulfilling a demand of state government employees, he also announced 4 per cent hike in their dearness allowance (DA).

With 4 per cent hike, the dearness allowance to be given to the state government employees will go up to 9 per cent.

Hike in DA was a long-standing demand of state government employees. Employees associations in the state were making effort for this after hike in allowance of employees in Madhya Pradesh government. With this hike, the Chhattisgarh government employees will get allowance at par with employees in Madhya Pradesh.
