London, Mar 10 (IBNS): The UK Home Secretary's office has moved the extradition file of Indian fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi to the Westminster Court in London, media reports said.

The office has found the case "fit for extradition" and the same will now be evaluated by the court.

This might soon bring an arrest warrant against Modi, who is wanted in India in the RS 13,600 crore PNB scam.

However, as per the civilian laws in the UK, he might be allowed bail instantly.

In June 2018, India had sent a request for extradition of Modi.

The UK Central Authority of Home Office has confirmed that the extradition request has been sent to the Westminster Magistrate Court on March 7 for further proceedings.

Modi, who has been on the run since February 2018, is reportedly doing diamond business in high-end markets of London despite being on India's most wanted list of fugitives.

He has also procured UK's Nation Insurance Number, which is normally provided to UK nationals only for doing business and transactions legally.

In a video published on the UK newspaper's Twitter handle, a reporter is seen walking with Modi in London and asking him one question after another, to all of which the Indian replies: "No comment".

According to the report, Nirav Modi has started a new diamond business in Soho, a part of the posh West End area in London.

He is apparently living in an £8 million apartment in West End, London.

In the video, Modi is seen sporting a handlebar moustache and an ostrich leather jacket that usually costs upwards of Rs 9 lakh.

The reporter is seen asking Modi how long he intended to stay in England and whether he had started another diamond business. Modi replies "No comments."
