HP: Women voters out number male in Hamirpur district

Hamirpur (HP), Mar 11 (UNI) Out of 3,84,137 total number of voters in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh, women voters have outnumbered their male counterparts by 7,680, deputy commissioner said here on Monday.

Talking to the media, Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner Richa Verma said that the women voters here account for 1,95,913 votes, whereas men for 1,88,224 adding that the voting would take place at 528 polling stations across the district.

One booth would be purely manned by disabled employees and ten others by women.

Hamirpur district forms part of the Hamirpur Lok sabha seat that falls in the districts of Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur and parts of Kangra and Mandi.
"She said that as many as 2,112 officers would be appointed to conduct the elections here on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23," she added.

The notification for election will be issued on April 22. The last date of filling nomination papers is April 29.

Scrutiny of papers will be held on April 30, whereas paper withdrawal will be conducted till May 2.

The counting of votes will be held in the premises of a local senior secondary school and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be kept under the strong vigil of CCTV cameras by the Central Security Forces.
