CISF detects half kg gold biscuits at Agartala Airport

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Monday detected gold biscuits weighing 500 grams at Agartala airpoprt, an official release said here on Tuesday. 

According to CISF, around 1750 hrs on March 11, during pre-embarkation security check at Security Hold Area of Agartala Airport, a CISF personnel detected two gold biscuits and 10 pieces of gold weighing about 437.50 gm from two passengers concealed under their socks.
 
They were identified as Abdul Latif and Mijanur Rahman, both Bangladeshi national, supposed to travel to Kolkata from Agartala by schedule flight.
 
On suspicion, their checking baggage were also collected from Baggage Make-up Area and re-screened at SHA. During screening, five more pieces of gold weighing about 62.50 gm were recovered from their checking baggage concealed beneath metal locking system of the briefcase. 
 
On inquiry, the duo could not produce any valid document for the possession of gold. 
 
Senior officers of CISF and Customs Officials were informed.
 
Later, both the apprehended passengers along-with recovered gold biscuits and gold pieces worth around 15 lakh were handed over to Customs Officials for further legal action in the matter, CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh told UNI.
