Puducherry, Mar 12 (UNI): A youth allegedly murdered his mother at Krishna Nagar here and surrendered to the police.

According to police, Amalopavanathan went to the Orleanpet police station and informed the police that he had killed his mother a week ago.

Orleanpet police immediately informed Lawspet police under which Kirshna Nagar falls. Lawspet police went to Kirshan Nagar and found the house locked. They broke open the door to find the body of Jayamary (51) in a decomposed state, following which Amalorpavanathan was arrested.

He told the cops he used to quarrel with her often because of her affairs with various men. A week ago, he asked her to stop such activities. This led to a fight and he beat her to death on the spot.

Amalorpavanathan then hid the body in a room and locked it. He then slept in another room of the house for a week before getting stressed out and surrendering to the police.

Jayamary is reportedly an accused in the murder of an industrialist called Manavalan at Nellithope here a few years ago.
