New Delhi, Mar 16 (IBNS): With PM Narendra Modi launching the "Main Bhi Chowkidar" campaign on the social media, the hashtag is currently trending at the top of micro-blogging site Twitter.

Modi shared a video on social media which highlighted the initiatives of his government.

He shared the video with the caption that read: "our Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation. But, I am not alone. Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar. Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar. Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar."

The video ends with an appeal to join PM Modi's "Main Bhi Chowkidar" programme on Mar 31.

The campaign has been launched amid Congress president Rahul Gandhi's attacks targeting the PM over numerous issues with the slogan "Chowkidar Chor Hai (watchman is a thief)".

Rahul Gandhi tried to corner the PM over the campaign and said his approach was 'defensive'.

"Defensive tweet Mr Modi! You feeling a little guilty today?," Gandhi tweeted.
