Patna, Mar 18 (UNI) The second phase of Lok Sabha elections for five seats in Bihar was today set in motion with issuance of notification and filing of nomination papers for these five seats also started, which would go for polling on April 18.

Sources of the office of Bihar Chief Electoral Sources said here that notification had been issued for second phase of Lok Sabha elections for five seats--Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnea, Banka and Bhagalpur. Process of filing of the nomination papers by willing candidates has also begun with issuance of notification to this effect.

Last date of filing of nomination papers is March 26 while scrutiny of papers would be done on March 27.

Candidature could be withdrawn by March 29 and polling for these five seats would be held on April 18 while counting of votes would be taken up on May 23.

Total number of electorate in Kishanganj Lok Sabha seat is 1652940 of which 855667 are male and 797215 are female voters. A total number of 1626 polling stations would be set up for voting. In Katihar Lok Sabha seat, the total number of electorate is 1645713 of which 871731 voters are male and 773884 voters are female. Number of booths to be set up in Katihar constituency is 1667.
