Rajyavardhan Rathore, other BJP leader welcome Gautam Gambhir to BJP

New Delhi, Mar 22 (IBNS): Top BJP leaders, including Union Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, welcomed former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir as he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Gambhir said he was inspired by the vision of PM Narendra Modi.

Gambhir (37), who retired from all forms of cricket last year, was welcomed to the party by Union Ministers and BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

"I am inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. Hope I can live up to the expectations and perform the task which will be given by my party," the southpaw from Delhi said.

Welcoming him, Rathore tweeted: "Welcome, @GautamGambhir and many congrats for the beginning of a new innings. May it be as illustrious as the old one, and may you serve the Nation as part of @BJP4India family for years to come!."


Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "Delighted that @GautamGambhir who brought glory for India in the field of cricket has joined @BJP4India and has committed to actively serve the country from this platform, under the leadership of PM @narendramodi & BJP President @AmitShah Welcome to BJP Gautam!."

BJP leader Vijay Goel posted: "I welcome former cricketer @GautamGambhir to the BJP, who joined the party in presence of our Finance Minister @arunjaitley in Delhi today!."
