Punjab: Bike rally against drugs held on Marty's Day

Chandigarh, Mar 24 (UNI) To commemorate the 88th Martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Aazm Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, Thumpers Cafe club bikers in association with Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab Police took to the streets from Mohali to Chandigarh to increase awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse in the state.

The rally was flagged off by STF chief Gurpreet Kaur Deo, ADGP which was culminated here at Tagore theatre.


Speaking on the occasion STF chief informed that 500 riders of Thumpers Café, 20 riders of Punjab Police, 20 riders of STF and 4 riders from Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh participated in the rally.


Bike rides were also taken out simultaneously in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Moga and Nawanshaher cities.


Disclosing this here on Sunday, a spokesperson of the STF said this bike rally was organised to create awareness among the society to quit drugs under the slogan of Rang De Basanti- “A Ride For Drug Free India”.
