Modi to address rallies in six states in two days

New Delhi, Mar 27 (UNI): BJP poll strategists have drawn out special campaign roadmap for the four states of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal.

Put together - these four states send as many 210 Lok Sabha members - 80 from UP, 48 from Maharashtra, 42 from West Bengal and 40 from Bihar.

According to party sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address at least 20 rallies in Uttar Pradesh followed by 10 each in Bihar and Mamata Banerjee-ruled West Bengal and 10-12 in Maharashtra - where the party hopes to repeat the success tale of 2014 along with its partner Shiv Sena.

Sources said Modi will begin his fresh phase of campaigning for the elections on Thursday with rallies in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and in Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh.

The Meerut rally will cover at least eight Lok Sabha constituencies and in most cases party nominees too have been announced.

These seats go to the polls in the first phase of the elections on April 11.

The Samajwadi Party and BSP alliance is expected to provide a formidable challenge despite the saffron party having done well in the region in 2014 Lok Sabha polls and 2017 Assembly elections.

Modi will also address rallies in Uttarakhand's Rudrapur and in Jammu. The voting for Jammu will be held in the second phase on April 18 while elections to the Udhampur seat is scheduled on April 11.

BJP candidates for both the seats Jugal Kishore Sharma from Jammu and Jitendra Singh from Udhampur have been renominated by the party.

On Friday, March 29, Modi will carry forward his campaign blitzkrieg with one rally each in Odisha's Koraput, Mahboob Nagar in Telangana and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh.

Between Bihar and UP, out of 120 seats, the NDA share was 104 in 2014 and that had sealed the certain victory in its favour.

BJP media head Anil Baluni said the party has organised over 500 'Vijay Sankalp' (pledge for victory) rallies across the country on Sunday and Tuesday.

BJP chief Amit Shah spoke in Agra and Moradabad, Union ministers Rajnath Singh in Lucknow and among others, Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari and Uma Bharati spoke in New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Udupi, Vijaywada, Nagpur and Sonipat respectively.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath traveled and spoke in Varanasi galvanising supporters, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani in Porbandar, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Panipat and Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Puri in Odisha.

Baluni said over 250 such rallies were held on Sunday as part of the party's campaign to highlight the Modi government's "achievements" in various fields and and also "insults" meted out to the armed forces by Congress and other Opposition leaders.
