Former Punjab SSP Charanjit Sharma sent to eight-day judicial custody

Faridkot, Mar 27 (UNI) Two days after the court of Faridkot judicial magistrate first class (JMIC) Ekta Uppal had sent former Punjab SSP Charanjit Sharma to police remand, the court on Wednesday extended his remand to further eight days.

Charanjit Sharma will be produced in the court on April 3. The court also clubbed both the cases including Behble Kalan firing and Kotkapura firing.

Sharma was produced before the court by the special investigating team (SIT) probing cases of sacrilege and police action on protesters at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan.

Sharma was arrested from his residence at Hoshiarpur on January 26 for his involvement in Behble Kalan police firing where two protester were killed. The SIT procured production warrants from the court on March 20.
