Police recovers arms-ammunition from a vehicle in Assam’s Biswanath district

Guwahati, Mar 27 (IBNS): Police have recovered one 303 rifle and ammunition from a vehicle during checking in Assam’s Biswanath district on Wednesday and arrested four persons in connection with it. 

According to the reports, the Biswanath district police had intercepted an Alto car bearing registration no AS-02L-2367 coming from Nagaon and during checking the police team had recovered one 303 rifle with silencer, 20 rounds live ammunition from the vehicle.

Police have arrested four persons including a woman, who carried the arms in the vehicle.

The arrested persons were identified as Ahmed Ali, Reena Begum, Imran Ali and Hasan Ali and they are hailing from Doboka area in central Assam’s Hojai district.

Police has started interrogation them to collect more information.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Biswanath district Mujafar Hussain said that, the arms and ammunition were kept inside the seats of the vehicle.

“Based on intelligence input, we had intercepted an Alto car and during checking, we had recovered one 303 rifle, a silencer and 20 rounds live ammunition from the vehicle. We had arrested four persons, who carried the arms and ammunition,” the police officer said.
