Key suspect held in sexual assault, murder of six-year-old at Thudiyalur
Coimbatore, Mar 31 (UNI) Police on Sunday arrested a 32-year-old man for raping and killing a six-year-old child at Kasthoorinayakan Pudhur
village near here.
He confessed to police that he had abducted the child and killed her after sexually assaulting her.
The girl was reported missing since Monday last and the next day her body was found near her house wither her hands and legs tied.
The body contained several injuries and the postmortem done at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) confirmed that she was sexually assaulted and murdered.
Special police teams were formed to nab the culprit and cases were registered under Sec 302 (Punishment for murder), 376(A) (Person committing an offence of rape and inflicting injury which causes death or causes the woman to be in a persistent vegetative state) of IPC and the sections of 5(l) (Commits penetrative sexual assault
on the child more than once or repeatedly), 5(m) (commits penetrative sexual assault on a child below 12 years) of POCSO Act.
The case was transferred to the All Women Police station at Thudiyalur for further investigation.
Today morning, police arrested the key suspect in the case Santosh Kumar (32) and during initial questioning confessed to have committed the crime.
