Child killed, 10 injured as Pakistan shells forward villages along LoC in Poonch
Jammu, Apr 1 (UNI) A five-year-old child died while at least ten civilians suffered injuries as Pakistan on Monday violated the ceasefire and fired unprovoked thus targetting forward villages along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"A five year old girl died while five others suffered injuries as Pakistan fired unprovoked on the LoC in Krishna Ghati and Mankote sectors of Poonch," official sources said here.
They said that heavy shelling is going on along the border in Poonch, adding, "Indian Army is effectively retaliating to the cross border firing."
Earlier in the morning, the mortar shelling and small arms firing from across the border started in Shahpur Kerni sector this morning at around 0745 hrs in which one civilian namely Mohammad Sharief of Guntrian, Mendhar suffered injuries in the cross border firing.
The deceased girl was identified as Sobia Shafiq,5, daughter of Mohammad Shafiq of Bandichachian.
Some of the injured were Naseem Akhter,40, wife of Mohammad Shafiq, Sameer Ahmed,7, son of Mohammad Shafiq, Mohammad Jahangir,35, son of Ghulam Din, all residentsof village Bandichachian, Nagina Bi,40, wife of Mohammad Bashir of Dare Sangla, Surankote Mohammad Sharief, son of Abada Magri of Guntrian, Mendhar, Showket, son of Jalal Din of Qasba and Hanifa B, Wife of Late Abdul Karim.
On Sunday, Pakistan violated the Ceasefire in Nowshera sector of Rajouri and on Saturday evening also Pakistan fired unprovoked on LoC in Mankote and Krishna Ghati sectors of Poonch.
