Kolkata, Apr 3 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday came down to Kolkata and attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Congress over numerous issues and even highlighted the key achievements of his government in the last five years.

Modi attacked the Congress over its manifesto and said the 'expiry date' of it is on Mar 23.

Interestingly, the counting of votes of the Lok Sabha polls will be held on May 23.

"People have already decided the fate of the manifesto," he said.

He attacked the Congress over the issue of AFSPA and said the party is  is determined to bring instability in the country.

"In their manifesto, the Congress has stated that they will dilute AFSPA. This move will help Pakistan sponsored terrorist. The Congress is determined to bring instability in the country," Modi said.

In the manifesto, the Congress has proposed to reduce the presence of the Indian Army and central armed police forces (CAPFs) in the Kashmir valley.

The party also proposed in in its manifesto that the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act and the Disturbed Areas Act in Jammu and Kashmir will be reviewed.

Speaking on the surgical strike conducted by the Indian Air Force in recent times,  Modi said: "Our forces had the courage to carry out air and surgical strikes. The only thing the country lacked was a resolute government."

Attacking the government in the state, Modi said: "People of Bengal have decided to form a government which will be free from the misgovernance of the TMC."

Comparing with the situation in Tripura, where the BJP formed the government by removing the Left rule, Modi said: "The situation in communist ruled Tripura was the same as West Bengal. But it was possible to make BJP government in it and now it's on path of development."

He said the 2019 elections and voting will see people end the trouble of terrorism in the country.

Modi, earlier in the day, addressed a rally in Siliguri, where he attacked CM Mamata Banerjee and called her a 'speed breaker' to the development of West Bengal.
