Will not speak a word against the CPM: Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad
Wayanad, Apr 4 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said he would "not say a word" against the ruling Left government in the state.
“I understand that my brothers and sisters in CPM will now speak against me and attack me, but I am not going to say a word against the CPM in my entire campaign,” Rahul said after filing his nomination from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
Wayanad is the second place from which he is contesting after Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
Rahul said he was contesting from two places to fight the BJP and its ideological backer RSS.
"There is a tussle between the Congress and the CPM, and that battle may continue in future, but I am here to tell the people of Kerala that while I will defend all the allegations made by CPM about me, I will not be making a single attack on the CPM. You will not hear a word against the CPM from me," he said.
Rahul was accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is the Congress chief in eastern Uttar Pradesh, to the nomination-filing centre.
The Congress president's decision to fight polls from Wayanad received sharp criticism from the Left, which is the ruling party of Kerala.
The Left and Congress usually maintain a cordial relationship at the national level.
However, the Congress chief stated he wanted to send a message to the people of south India who feels "hostile" under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre.
Rahul is the sitting MP of Amethi.
