SP leader Dimple Yadav files nomination from UP's Kannauj seat
Kannauj Apr 6(UNI) Samajwadi Party leader and parliamentarian Dimple Yadav filed her nomination papers from the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat on Saturday.
SP president Akhikesh Yadav, BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra and SP leader and Bollywood star Jaya Bachchan were present with Dimple, when she filed here nomination after holding a road show on the Samajwadi Rath.
She is expected to address a rally later in the day.
Polling on the seat will be held in fourth phase, i.e on April 29.
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had said that Dimple will not contest to the Lok Sabha elections. He had also indicated that he will be in the fray from Kanauji Lok Sabha seat. But, later he changed the decision following the electoral alliance of his party with the Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal.
Dimple Yadav was first elected from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in 2012 by-polls. She was elected unopposed. The by poll was caused by the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav as he had also contested from Firozabad seat and retained that seat. Dimple Yadav was re-elected in 2014 Lok Sabha elections by defeating her nearest BJP rival Subrat Pathak by a thin margin of little over 12,000 votes.
Akhilesh Yadav is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Azamgarh constituency, her father in law Mulayam Singh Yadav is in the fray from Mainpuri.
Two brothers in laws of Dimple Yadav are also contesting the Lok Sabha election. Akshay Yadav from Firozabad and Dharmendra Yadav from Badaun. In 2014 Samajwadi party had won five Lok Sabha and all were from the first family of the Samajwadi party.
