Fatehpur, Apr 6 (UNI) Congress general secretary (Uttar Pradesh east) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday held a road show in favour of party candidate Rakesh Sachan.
Priyanka reached Fatehpur from Kanpur and was given a rousing welcome everywhere she went. People showered flower petals on her with raising pro-Congress slogans.
While talking to women at Aunga locality , she asked them that her brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi had never in the past has made any fake promises.
" You will get Rs 72,000 in your account directly," Priyanka told them and even asked them not to heed to any criticism by anyone.
However the women demanded that Congress should ban liquor as it was affecting their family life while asked for jobs." Didi you should ban liquor," the women said in one voice.
During her road side meetings Priyanka narrated the benefits about the Congress manifesto particularly about NYAY through which poor will get Rs 72,0000 in a year.
" Rahul Bhaiyya had studied all the implications about NYAY and after being satisfied that it woukd have no adverse impact on the country's economy , he announced for the scheme," she said.
In another place , the Congress leader alleged that BJP was discriminating the martyrs." A martyr family has to be given respect and honour across political lines but BJP was trying to divide the martyr on political lines which is condemable, " she said.
Priyanka also alleged that BJP has weakened the MGNREGA as now small works in the villages are done by machines.
Priyanka went for around two kilometre road show and held small meetings where ever she found people in large numbers.
At Kanpur airport , Priyanka was welcomed by former Union minister and Congress candidate Sriprakash Jaiswal and other senior leaders.
Priyanka is expected to return back to Delhi in the late evening
