CPM's Yechury calls BJP poll manifesto 'another round of jumlas'
New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI): Calling it another round of 'jumlas', CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury has slammed the BJP for the promises in their election manifesto and said the saffron party was silent on their 2014 promises.
“The BJP’s latest set of announcements is another round of Jumlas. It was the same in 2014, and people have seen through their PR and spin. The time to vote out this government is now”, the Left leader tweeted.
Mr Yechury said that people have heard the BJP saying that our farmers are in distress and that they will commit to prevent farmers suicide.
“But the reality is agrarian distress deepen and number of farmers suicide increased. For youth they promised 10 crore jobs in five years, instead unemployment rate at the highest of 45 years,” Mr Yechury said.
He said that there are no references on their past promises and added that “not a word on demonetisation, which destroyed crores of jobs and how it is affected small and medium industries”.
Referring to the mention on Ram Mandir, Mr Yechury asked: "Is this a surprise? For the last 30 years, every single 'jumla ghoshna' of theirs has included construction of the Ram Mandir. This point was continuously being repeated. Every election they did it. Their whole agenda is that of sharpening communal polarisation and hoping that it would garner them some votes. But they are sorely mistaken.”
The CPM general secretary alleged that BJP’s only target is to consolidate the ‘Hindutva communal vote bank’.
“But this time that is not going to happen," he added.
Taking on the Modi government on the promises to annual the 35A of the Constitution, with regard to Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the policies for the state have been a disaster for last five years.
“Their policies further alienating the people in Jammu and Kashmir. The number of terrorist attacks has increased by 176 per cent. In fact their policies and statements are further alienating the people and giving fertile ground for terrorism to grow”, he added.
