Alpesh Thakor, 2 supporter MLAs resign from Congress
Ahmedabad, Apr 10 (UNI): Congress MLA, national secretary and co-incharge of Bihar Alpesh Thakor and two of his supporter MLAs in the party Bharatsinh Thakor and Dhawalsinh Zala resigned from the Congress party on Wednesday but they have made it clear that they would not resign from the Assembly seat.
Addressing a press conference after sending his resignation letter to Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda, Thakor said that he would not do election campaigning anywhere except for the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat and Unjha Assembly bypoll in Gujarat where his outfit Thakor Sena has fielded candidates.
In his resignation letter, Thakor has alleged that he did not get respect in the party and was always betrayed. His outfit Thakor Sena, which was angry due to getting ignored, had asked him to put in his papers.
"I had joined Congress during its bad times. I was resigning from all the posts and party with the feeling of betrayal and pain," he said.
Thakor had a few days ago said he was supposed to join the BJP but had decided not to do so.
It is being said that Thakor in fact was angry that he was not offered a Congress ticket for the Patan Lok Sabha seat under which his Assembly constituency Radhanpur falls.
Thakor on Wednesday alleged that Congress was faction ridden and leaders in it were fighting among themselves for party posts.
Thakor claimed that after joining the party during its bad times before the 2017 Gujarat Assembly polls, for some time he and his people were being insulted and ignored by the party.
He would continue to be a part of his outfit Thakor Sena. He said that his supporter Congress MLAs Dhaval Zala and Bharat Thakor have also left the party but have not resigned from the Assembly. All of them would jointly raise the voice of his community and poor.
To a query he said that even the party president Rahul Gandhi could not resolve the issues raised by him time and again during direct meetings.
