Lucknow, Apr 17 (UNI) Terming the Samajwadi Party (SP)-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alliance a flop show, actor turned politician Ravi Kishan said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would get landslide victory in the Lok Sabha elections in Gorakhpur.
After meeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Bhojpuri film superstar said, "I am taking Yogi ji's mantra and going to Gorakhpur."
Using a Bhojpuri connotation, the actor said, "For the Opposition, I would like to say, 'Zindagi jhand ba, phir bhi ghamand ba.' The alliance is a flop show. Post the elections, a BJP government will be formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
Ravi Kishan said that he had immense respect for Modi who belonged to a simple family, adding that the PM neither had any bank balance nor any properties.
This election is for the nation's pride and security after which, Modi will again become the Prime Minister, he added.
The Bhojpuri actor said that he wanted to go to Gorakhpur along with the CM but because of the latter's busy schedule, he had to go alone.
Notably, BJP had to face defeat in the by-elections which took place in 2018 in Gorakhpur which is considered to be the party's bastion. Praveen Nishad of the Nishad party who had contested on the SP symbol had defeated BJP candidate Upendra Shukla. Praveen Nishad later joined the BJP and has now been made a party candidate from Sant Kabir Nagar.
Except the 2018 bypoll, the Gorakhnath temple has retained the seat since 1989.
