Polling begins on peaceful note for second phase Lok Sabha election in Bihar
Patna, Apr 18 (UNI) Amid foolproof security arrangements, polling began on peaceful note to decide fate of 68 candidates by an estimated 86 lakh electorate in five seats during second phase Lok Sabha election from 7 AM today which would continue till 6 PM barring two extremism-hit Assembly segments where polling would be held from 7 AM to 4 PM due to security reasons.
Sources at office of Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar said here that polling began on peaceful note in five seats for second phase of Lok Sabha elections from 7 AM which would continue till 6 PM while in two extremists hit assembly segments--Belhar and Katoria, the polling would come to an end at 4 PM only due to security reasons.
Polling is in progress for second phase of Lok Sabha elections in five seats-- Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Banka where an estimated 86 lakhs electorate would be exercising their franchise at 8,644 booths to decide fate of 68 candidates.
At some booths, women in large number were seen waiting in queue for their turn to cast their booths.Elder electorate were taken to booths by their relatives where polling staff on
duty facilitated them in casting their votes without facing much difficulties.First time voters were seen encouraged to exercise their franchise.Polling is expected to gain momentum with progress of the day.
