BJP's Harsh Vardhan files nomination from Chandni Chowk
New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI): Amid presence of large number of supporters, BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Chandni Chowk and Union science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan filed his nomination papers at the deputy commissioner's office in Alipur, on Monday.
Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi flagged off Vardhan’s ‘Nomination Yatra’ from 19 Pushpanjali Enclave which is a part of the Chandni Chowk constituency.
Earlier in the morning, the BJP candidate had also performed a puja at the venue amidst chanting of vedic mantras. Thousands of people came to the venue and accompanied the candidate to the nomination-filing centre.
Later, he addressed his supporters from a flower-bedecked ‘Election Rath’, saying that it was very evident that there is a pro-Modi wave in the country.
He also said that the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will see BJP-led NDA front grabbing more seats than what it notched up in the 2014 polls.
Vardhan thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the BJP president Amit Shah for giving him another opportunity to serve Chandni Chowk constituency. He said that the large gathering of supporters at the venue was itself an evidence of people’s love and admiration for the party and its credible performance.
Dr Vardhan attacked opposition parties for their ideology-less and leader-less ''Mahagathbandhan''.
Terming it a front of ''opportunists'' and ''corrupt'' netas who have come together to grab power, he said Prime Minister Modi had today become a symbol of probity in public life.
"Opposition parties fear that once Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister again, they will have to go to jail and rot there," he said.
Further he added that BJP stood for growth and public welfare and added that neither the AAP nor Congress had any program or policy to match the BJP’s performance.
