Jharkhand: Two landmines recovered in Palamu, man killed by Maoists in Chatra

Daltonganj/Chatra, Apr 27 (UNI) With less than 48 hours left for the elections of Lok Sabha on Palamu and Chatra Lok Sabha seats of the state the ultras have made their presence felt once more as not only they shot dead a man but a couple of IEDs planted by them was also timely recovered by the security personnel.

The Panki police had received a secret tip-off regarding presence of the land mines on the Panki-Balumath road after which a search operation was conducted and these two can bombs which were kept below a culvert was recovered from Jotang village.


SDPO Anup Badaik who was also on the spot said that after the recovery of the bombs the bomb disposal team was informed which destroyed the bombs. He said that the IEDs were powerful enough to inflict damage on the security forces.


Meanwhile, in another incident under Rajpur police station area of Chatra district a man was shot to death by the ultras accusing him of being a police informer. The deceased has been identified as Rajkumar Singh Bhokta who was a farmer by profession.


Police said that last night he was going somewhere men he was caught by the Maoist who caught him and shot him dead. Few pamphlets were also recovered from the spot in which he was accused of being police informed. Later the body was sent for post-mortem.
