Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 30 (UNI) Three members of a family died of asphyxiation while fixing a mechanical error inside a well in Almala village of Latur district.

A cement tank was affixed above the well and an electric motor fitted inside to pump up water in the tank in the Mulani residence.

As the electric motor was not functioning, the family members decided to fix the error. While first Saddam(22) descended the well and failed to return, Saddam's father Farooq(46) got into it and met with the same fate.

The incident took a worse turn as the third victim and Farooq's nephew Saeed sloped downwards the well and he too passed out.

By this time, the villagers gathered and two youths attempted to rescue the trio but suffered from asphyxiation and were immediately rushed to a hospital.
On being informed, a fire brigade reached the spot and released oxygen for instant relief of the three victims still inside the well.

Finally, the fire brigade personnel got into the well and rescued the victims. However they could not be saved as the ambulance arrived late, said reports.
A a case of accidental deaths has been registered.
