New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to apprise and show the records and materials why custodial interrogation of former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar is required in the Saradha chit fund scam case.

Headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, the three-judge bench asked the CBI to apprise it about the need for custodial interrogation of Kumar.

'Show us material to show he is involved and he has been party to this case," the bench ruled.

Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta sought time till tomorrow to produce the material.

The next hearing will now take place on Wednesday.

Last week, Kumar had filed an affidavit claiming that he is cooperating with the investigating agency, CBI, and there is no need of his custodial interrogation in the Saradha chit fund scam case.
