Gadchiroli Maoist attack: Father of civilian driver demands ‘martyr’ status for son
Nagpur, May 3 (UNI) The father of Tomeshwar Singnath, the civilian driver killed in the Gadchiroli Naxal attack, on Wednesday, wants his son to be called a martyr.
Bhagwat has also demanded pension on a par with 15 other Quick Response Team (QRT) jawans killed in the attack.
Calling his younger son's sacrifice 'no lesser' than that of the QRTs, the distressed father said, 'My son was killed while transporting the jawans, who would have fought in the operation. Our sacrifice should not be belittled.'
DGP Shubodh Jaiswal had, in a press conference at Gadchiroli, said that anyone dying in Naxal violence is a ‘martyr’but the word ‘Shaheed’ was found missing with Tomeshwar’s name on the coffin box, which was kept along with that of the 15 jawans at Gadchiroli police parade ground on Thursday.
