Maharashtra: Water level falls in Marathwada dams

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 5 (UNI) Water situation in eight districts of Marathwada region in Maharashtra has become a cause of worry as water stocks in a total of 873 dams including major, medium, minor and barrages have been fast depleting.

According to the latest statistics available with the divisional commissioners’ office here, at present there was 2.73 per cent average live water stock in the dams which compared to 15 per cent of last year on same period.

In 11 major dams in the region, there is 2.94 per cent live water stock available.

While 2.42 per cent live water stocks remained in all the 75 medium irrigation project and 2.68 per cent live water stocks in 749 minor project, 1.93 per cent in Godavari barrages and Terna Weir,the statistics added.
