Auraiyya, May 9 (UNI): More than 20 children were injured when a school bus overturned in the Bidhuna area of this district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Police said that the mishap occurred when the bus driver lost control over the steering wheel and the vehicle turned turtle near a petrol pump of Sarai Pratham at the Achalda road in the morning.

On receiving information, the SDM and police constables rescued the injured children.

The injured have been admitted to government and private hospitals for treatment.

According to police, around 65 children were travelling in the bus.

The driver of the vehicle managed to escape after the accident.

The kids have alleged that the bus steering had failed four days ago as well but the school administration failed to take note of the situation. The parents of the children have alleged that the kids are stuffed inside the bus.

Investigation is under way.
