Srinagar, May 14 (UNI/IBNS): A National Conference (NC) activist wounded after militants shot at him in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said on Tuesday.

They said militants fired upon the NC activist Sajjad Ahmad Ganai at Chitragam Kalan in Shopian last night and thrashed another person before escaping from the area.

Ganai who received a bullet injury in the leg was admitted to hospital, they said, adding that later security forces conducted search operation in the area.

NC's provincial president of Kashmir, Nasir Sogami tweeted, "Praying for speedy recovery of our young colleague Sajad Ganai from chitragam. These attacks on civilians are totally senseless and strongly condemn such cowardly acts Moreso in this Holy month of Ramadan."
