I vow never to act with bad intention or for myself, says Modi in impassioned victory speech

New Delhi, May 23 (IBNS): Amid frantic chants of "Modi,Modi", Narendra Modi, who is basking in the glory of his emphatic return as the Prime Minister of the country for the straight second term, addressed a mammoth gathering of jubilant party workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters on Thursday evening and said the victory is that of people and democracy who rose over every division to exercise their franchise in the true spirit of 21st century India.

While addressing his workers in his victory speech, Modi said he felt proud that everyone in the BJP fought selflessly for Mother India.

He thanked the people of the country for giving his party a mandate of a clear majority.

"People of the country have filled the 'Fakir's jholi' (beggar's sack). I assure you to work for you and not for myself ever. I assure you to never do anything with a bad intention. I may go wrong but I will not intentionally do any wrong," said Modi, who has himself won the Varanasi constituency by 4.79 lakh votes.

Modi, who flew high on patriotic sentiments, said "every cell of my body is dedicated to nation."

He said this victory will remain as memorable in world history.

"This election was not fought by leaders but by common people. Oppositions did not understand me then but today people proved me right," said the BJP leader.

"Today if anyone has won, it's the people of the country and democracy," said he.

Modi said he wants to heartily congratulate the winners of the Lok Sabha election.

"We never stopped or got tired or stooped low in this five years. We were once two and now we are coming back for the second term. However, we shall maintain our humility," said Modi who once again proved that his wave was not finished yet.

Modi said this win is not that of Modi but of those people who starve for honesty and self-respect. "This victory is of farmers," he added.

Modi said this time there will be only two segments of the people in India: one is poor and the other who want to alleviate the poor and bring them out of it.

"This time no political party could fool people with false secularism tag," Modi alleged.

"Unlike previous elections, this election for the first time did not have the corruption charge levelled against the government by the oppositions," a proud Modi said, even though Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had assailed him all through the campaign over the Rafale fighter jet deal with France.

Taking a sarcastic dig at oppositions, Modi said he will not work with corruption in future too.

"I will not work with any negative intentions in the coming five years," said he.

As per trends at 8:35 pm, BJP-led NDA is ahead in 349 to 350 seats.

The Congress-led UPA is leading in 86 seats.

Other parties are ahead in 107 seats.

India witnessed seven-phased Lok Sabha polls this time.

Narendra Modi has won comfortably from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

In 2014, Modi and his BJP had registered a thumping victory in the general polls to form the government at the Centre.
