Punjab government is running an anti-farmer policy: Farmers Union
Moga, May 25 (UNI): Seven farmer organisations in Punjab, in a meeting held here on Saturday, accused the state government for running an anti-farmer policy and not waiving off farmer loans.
The farmers being strongly critical of the Captain government also demanded 24 hours uninterrupted power supply during the paddy season.
After the meeting Sukhdev Singh Kokri General secretary of Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU Akta Ugrahan) said that farmers organisation were strongly critical of the anti farmers policy of the state government for not waiving of loans despite several assurances given by the state government.
Kokri also said that farmers were demanding 24-hours uninterrupted power supply during the paddy season as the power board refused to give full day power supply to farm sector. The agriculture sector receives only 8 hours of electricity in a day.
Sukhdev Singh Kokri also said that on May 31 farmers would stage one day protest at all district headquarter demanding complete waiver of loans of the farmers and they will also submit memorandums to all the deputy commissioner in this respect.
